episode: -> thought-INVOKING words. <-
just finished watching the last episode of "Jiu Chen Gau (The Rainbow Connection)".
it is a repeat telecast on Channel 8 from 2230 to 0030 (2 hours).
i didn't really catch every episode. but at least caught enough here and there to follow the general storyline.
the drama was alright. i remembered alot of excessive screaming and quarrelling. -_-"
in terms of an exciting and interesting story plot and drama..
the current Channel 8 2100 show seems really good. it involves CID and mysteries (i like!! ^^). too bad i can't watch. :(
anyways back to where i was touching on..
the reason why i even bother to mention today's season finale.
because the most touching part of the drama today was the words spoken in a particular scene. very thought-invoking.
i shall give a brief introduction to the general idea of this part of the story (that resulted in that scene)..
Keke (the gurl) thought being smart (high IQ) was everything to the key to success.
she was proud. arrogant. and looked down on people not as intelligent as her.
that was when she lost her high-ranking job.
she was depressed. dejected. devastated.
her ex-classmate (He Wei; not as smart as her; but very successful; because of her high EQ) and her ex-boyfriend (Renguang; the guy) helped her get another job.
she was highly indignant that she has to be under a not-as-smart-as-her He Wei. but eventually accepts the job anyways (obvious reason being: Renguang).
Keke thought she could get back together with Renguang.
because the guy was very nice. sweet. and caring to her.
he even allowed her to stay in his house when she refused to go home.
naturally she misunderstood his kind intentions (since she still harbours feelings for him). and thought they were back together as a couple.
she even changed her wilful attitude and bad temper because of him (the power of love. wow).
little does she knows that he was already engaged to He Wei (Keke's friend and superior now).
discovering the truth was a terrible blow to her.
she met with an accident soon after. laid on the hospital bed for a long long time. unconscious.
her family found out about Renguang and He Wei. scolded them for hurting Keke again and again (actually He Wei did nothing; Renguang just didn't tell Keke he was attached. dots).
seeing Keke's condition was not turning for the better. her family begged Renguang to visit her again. and tell her that he actually still loves her very very much.
of course Renguang could not bring himself to lie. and the next string of words he spoke was the touching part. and in fact very true too.
"you (the family) should stop giving in to her. she has been spoilt and is wilful. she refuses to accept and make any amendments to her mistakes. she refuses to accept things the way they are when things doesn't go her way.
take for example, the china job trip (Renguang got it for her). it didn't turn out as she has expected. so she returned to singapore. she wanted to show you (the mother) that she could achieve a good career all the same after getting fired. so she refused to return home.
even our past relationship. she never tried making any move or changes to maintain our relationship when we came across problems. i was always the one giving in to her. until i could give in no longer (and thus the break-up)."
"Keke, in life, things don't always go our way. we must learn to adjust our mindset accordingly. stop being so wilful. wake up to the harsh reality. stop escaping it."
"if you are resisting regaining consciousness (because of He Wei and him). you should really open your eyes and take a good look around you. look at who are here with you. your mother and your two sisters (her family). how much they have done for you.
you are already alot more fortunate than many many others to have a family."
i couldn't help but nod at his words. it was touching. meaningful. and true. very true indeed.
Keke woke up that very night.
she congratulated Renguang and He Wei on their engagement and marriage-soon-to-happen.
her response to Renguang's harsh (but well-intentioned) words in the hospital. what she has finally came to realise and to understand.
"IQ is not everything. EQ is the key."
"i may have lost love. but i still have a career. friends. and most importantly, my family."
"love and friendship are not constant. only family never changes."the drama is only so-so. but the words are really well-said.
*applause*
