episode: -> cui already. x_x <-
LAJ1201 Japanese 1 oral interview cui already. x_x
i am A-san.
my partner is B-san.
we walked into the oral examining classroom.
my mind went blank.
the examiner is our LAJ1201 Japanese 1 tutorial B class tutor.
it is good to see her again. (:
especially her sweet soothing smile. ^^
but i am too nervous to comprehend anything anyways. x_x
seated behind us is our grader somemore. @_@
we started almost immediately.
we received an interview question each.
she asked me, "お父さんはどんな人ですか。"
("what kind of person is your father?")
i replied (after some pausing), "ええと、父は親切です。そして、ダンスが上手です。"
("er, my father is kind. he is also good at dance.")
she asked B-san, "お母さんはどんな人ですか。"
("what kind of person is your mother?")
B-san replied (after some pausing), "母は親切です。それから、料理が下手です。"
("my mother is kind. she is poor at cooking.")
we proceeded on to role play.
she handed us a card each.
we were supposed to role play according to the situation and instructions given on the cards.
i MUST start first. @_@
our situation for the first role play is..
A-san (me) and B-san are studying Japanese in Japan.
we are friends, but not close friends.
A-san know of a famous German cafe.
A-san is supposed to invite B-san.
arrange a date with B-san.
arrange to meet behind the bus stop.
dates to ask B-san out: 24th, 25th, and 26th September.
since i MUST begin the conversation.
but my mind went blank.
because i don't know how am i supposed to just bring in the German cafe into our conversation without being too random and out-of-the-blue.
thus i anyhow crap first. :ZZZ
A-san (me): B-san,
("B-san, good afternoon. how are you?")
B-san:
("yes, i am fine.")
A-san:
("er, how is your studies in Japanese coming along?")
B-san:
("hmmm, it is hard.")
A-san:
("yes." was all i could squeeze out of my mind, because my mind went completely blank again; i was supposed to say, "そうですね。(i agree.)")
A-san:
("er, are you used to life in Japan already?"; correct sentence should be:
もう日本の生活に慣れましたか。(もう = already))
B-san:
("i am already used to it.")
at this point of time, i panicked.. badly.
i still have no idea how i am supposed to bring in the main task of mentioning the famous German cafe.
the examiner tried calming me down by gesturing.
i thus decided to anyhow whack. x_x
better than nothing.
("er, German cafe is famous. shall we go to the cafe together?")
B-san:
("yes, when is it?")
A-san:
("er, do you have time on 24th September?")
B-san:
("er, wait..")
A-san:
("you cannot make it?")
B-san:
("yes. because i am playing tennis with my mother.")
A-san:
("in that case, do you have time on 25th September?")
B-san:
("er, wait..")
A-san:
("so you cannot come?")
B-san:
("yes. because i am going shopping with my younger sister.")
A-san:
("yes, that's tough, isn't it?" WRONG!! x_x; i am supposed to respond, "
(that's a pity.)" and i wanted to add, "忙しいですね。(you are quite busy.)" but the words won't form in my mouth. :XXX)
B-san:
("yes.")
A-san:
("well, how about 26th September?")
B-san:
("yes, that sounds good.")
A-san:
("that's good."; however, we learnt the phrase as a past tense of "いい (good)", so i also don't know whether it is right of me to use it in this context. i definitely heard of this phrase before in Japanese anime though. x_x)
A-san:
("let's meet behind the bus stop then."; wrong form used. i am supposed to say, "バス乗り場の後ろに会いま
B-san:
("what time do we meet?")
A-san:
("er, how about 2.30pm in the afternoon?")
B-san:
("yes, that sounds good.")
A-san:
("see you on the 26th then.")
B-san: また。
("see you.")
this marks the end of our first role play.
after much pauses and struggles. x_x
our second role play began almost immediately after the first ended.
she handed both of us two cards each.
one is the instructions card.
another is a card consisting of a mini map.
B-san MUST start first this time round.
our situation for the second role play is..
A-san (me) is a stranger/passerby.
B-san is lost.
she will approach you asking for the directions to the German cafe.
B-san:
("er, excuse me.")
A-san: はい。
("yes.")
my partner panicked at this point of time (i guess).
she paused for quite a long moment.
thus i had to prompt her.
or not it would appear strange that both of us are silent.
A-san:
("what is it?")
B-san:
("er, where is the German cafe?")
A-san:
("er, do you see a bank there?"; i am actually supposed to double confirm the location she is searching for with her first, "
(is it German cafe?)")
B-san:
("yes.")
A-san:
("do you see a black building on the right of the bank?")
B-san:
("is it the tall building?")
A-san:
("yes, it is inside the tall black building."; i forgot to use a particle to connect the two adjectives together. x_x; it should have been: あの高い
(と = and))
i am supposed to further elaborate that the German cafe is on the eighth floor (八階).
she is supposed to respond she understood (わかりました) and thank you (どうも).
but there is no time left already.
the examiner just ended our role play immediately before i could add more stuff. @_@
she then returned us our homework (submitted to her in our last class).
before we leave our seats..
she asked my partner, "リイさん、オラインタビューはどうですか。"
("Lee-san, how is the oral interview?")
my partner replied, "難しいです。"
("it is difficult.")
she asked me, "チャンさん、オラインタビューはどうですか。"
("Chan-san, how is the oral interview?")
("it is difficult, but interesting." WRONG tenses!! x_x; it should have been: 難し
they should be in the past tense, not present tense. boo.. :ZZZ)
we thanked the examiner and grader, and bade them goodbye, before exiting the examining classroom.
but anyways, the conclusion is:
cui already. >.<
