episode: -> Sony Ericsson w880i *LIMITED GOLD EDITION*. <-
went Toa Payoh to specially get myself a new phone.
w880i now mourns over the loss of a beloved close friend, w850i.
i was quite set on getting my hands on that extremely slim Sony Ericsson w880i.
reasons being:
1. the familiarity of Sony Ericsson user interface.
(since my dead w850i is also a Sony Ericsson)
2. w880i is very very VERY SLIM.
(the difference is very much pronounced, especially when compared to my old w850i)
3. the functions are pretty decent too, for that of a walkman phone.
(resembles that of a w850i actually, except that w880i is without radio function)
4. w880i is phasing out; in fact, many places do not even sell this phone anymore.
(the price, the functions, the colours, all come together)
the differences between w850i and w880i are minute:
1. w880i uses MemoryStick M2 card, instead of MemoryStickPRODUO (w850i).
2. w880i is a candybar design, but w850i is a slider design.
3. w850i comes with a radio function, but w880i does not.
i wanted a BLACK w880i initially.
but the guy only had a LAST GOLD w880i left.
(it is either take it, or leave it)
it is the limited w880i classic gold edition, going at only S$285 somemore.
thus i took it. :DDD
was comparing and deciding between Sony Ericsson w880i (candybar), Sony Ericsson w580i (slider), and Samsung F400 (slider) actually.
but decided against w580i and F400.
reasons being:
- w580i keyboard is prone to CRACKING apparently (S$308; 512MB MemoryStick M2 card included).
- F400 is Samsung = new interface, new this, new that, everything new to me (S$380; 2GB Micro SD card included).
and..
- w880i is close to ideal, especially with its SLIM and SLENDER figure (S$285; 1GB MemoryStick M2 card included).
hence decisions are made.
i ended up paying S$285 (w880i) + S$15 (upgrade 1GB -> 2GB MemoryStick M2 card) +S$5 (screen protector) = S$305.
