episode: -> RAG DAY 2008/2009. <-
(all missing pictures for the past entries will be put up in the next blog entry.)
chiong-ed RAG'08 straight for two days.
Thursday to Friday (RAG DAY 2008/2009).
yes.
RAG DAY is over.
yes. Yes.
RAG DAY is over!
yes. Yes. YES.
RAG DAY is over!!
i can't tell you how much i was anticipating for RAG DAY to come.
and it came.
but now it is over.
RAG DAY, this big day, which all RAG-gers had been working so hard for.
three months' efforts, just for today.
i am so going to miss the RAG-ging times.
i am so going to miss the sleepovers in school.
(even though i couldn't sleep, for goodness' sake. x_x)
i am so going to miss everybody, especially Zara and Wan Yee, whom i spent the most time with.
i am so going to miss Jonathan, Weiren, and the RAG'08 dancers too.
i am so NOT going to miss the RAG'08 accounts, and sewing costumes though. -_-"
HAHA.
i was writing close to (estimated) 550 pieces of red cloth (armband) - 必勝.
it is said to be a Science RAG tradition.
red armband cloth - 必勝, two words.
Science FLAG was yellow armband cloth - 必勝, two words too.
and this very armband left me a beautiful mark on my left arm. -_-"
touching up + glueing + sewing of costumes went on for the rest of Thursday night.
i kept poking myself in the fingers while trying to sew the many manyyyy tiny sequins onto the cloth for the engineers.
RAG'08 dancers began to stream into the costumes room in batches accordingly, after their final few dry run rehearsals with the float + finalised mechanisms.
they also tried miniature stunts and cheerleading stunts.
some of them fell and got badly injured somemore. :XXX
but tomorrow the show must go on.
(i felt so sorry for them upon receiving the sad news)
RAG'08 dancers involved in static display (prejudging) were to change into their costumes first.
(last minute static display dancers were also suddenly changed because of the injuries. >.<)
makeup + hairstyling began for those involved in static display first too.
makeup i/c - Weiren.
hairstyling i/c - Jonathan.
Jonathan tested his hairstyling skills on me first, before the RAG'08 dancers finished bathing. -_-"
my hair thus became a lump of curry puff (or something) for the rest of the night and morning, before i got irritated and forced a hairbrush through my hair to ridden it of the "curry puffs".
Alan (cowboy) was the first to complete.
he rested in the RAG'08 costumes room with us, whilst waiting for others to finish too.
due to the last minute sudden changes in the static display dancers..
.. the costumes comm was thrown into panic.
because we made the static display dancers' costumes alot nicer and more presentable (on close inspection).
we rushed into a fury state to do up the other dancers' costumes, who were picked to replace those injured.
this went on all the way until 0545 hours next morning.
(NUSSU pushed back the timings for all programmes on RAG DAY by two hours)
side props were already down to the Sports and Recreational Centre (SRC) tracks early in the morning at around 0300 hours.
float lorry followed soon after at 0545 hours.
costumes comm went down to SRC tracks at 0600 hours.
i was the logistics i/c a.k.a. welfare i/c.
brought all the food and drinks down to SRC area too.
walked one round around the SRC tracks, watching all the faculty floats and some of the hall floats.
(Science float was the second last (F10) to arrive at SRC anyways)
ALL THE FLOATS AND SIDE PROPS ARE SO PRETTY!! ^^
went to the Science allocated tentage area with the costumes comm to join the dancers.
immediately began to touch up/double check all the RAG'08 dancers' costumes for any thread, missing materials, damaged cloth.. etc.
ALL RAG-gers i met was enquiring about my "special" hairstyle. -_-"
i kept having to explain i was Jonathan's guinea pig, added with Wei Na's add-ons. x_x
Zara forgot to bring over some small items, and we had to go back costumes room to get them.
i used the time back there to force a hairbrush through my hair, and tried to make it appear more normal. like real. my god. @_@
went back to SRC tracks with a more normal hairstyle.
despite my hair feeling as rough as hay.
Jonathan don't know applied how much hairgel and sprayed tons of hairspray onto my hair. :ZZZ
first round dry run run through began for all the faculties and halls at about 0800 hours.
saw Medicine's (F8) and Arts' (F9) dances.
Medicine's was fabulous. the cheerleading stunts. my god. o.O
we touched up on our dancers' makeup, hair, and costumes immediately after the dry run, ready for the static display (prejudging).
(they smudged the makeup, "kissed" their costumes, tore the costumes, dropped the little decos on the costumes.. etc. @_@)
touching up sessions (first and second rounds - floats) were also somewhere in the programmes.
(i wasn't involved; involved in helping the dancers only)
static display (prejudging) was scheduled to start at about 0930 hours.
Science's turn was to begin at 1015 hours.
Ding Li was anxious and worried about what he would have to say to the judges quickly, to give a brief introduction about our story.
THE SUN WAS HORRIBLE.
i am almost sure my skin started to burn then. x_x
touching up (costumes + makeup + hair) and phototaking continued on straight after static display (prejudging), ready for the RAG'08 performance.
everyone was very veryyyy high by then.
seriously photowhoring like crazy.
costumes comm already quite tired by then.
even the photowhore side of me was pretty tired.
my camera rested by my side most of the time.
HAHA.
BOSS Brazil coffee (original and cafe latte) were being given out for free at our tentage area.
the tentage at the other side of SRC was giving away free Pepsi MAX.
er, i prefer coffee naturally (nearer anyways).
seriously dislike gaseous drinks.
(drank three cans of coffees~ shiok! ^^)
i was called back for logistics issues, just before Science float had to move off to queue for RAG'08 performance.
(after Business (F1) had moved off the stage)
THE SUN WAS HORRIBLE AGAIN.
i am almost sure my skin was already moderately cooked by then. x_x
Tara told me to join in with the rest of the RAG-gers.
i am so grateful and thankful to her and her kindness. (:
joined in the dancers and costumes comm back at the tentage.
they were trying to watch the RAG'08 performances there.
(can barely see anything actually)
the dancers, on the other hand, were training hard on the cheerleading stunts.
costumes comm decided to run off and join in the rest of the Science students at the side of the stage.
caught the (don't know which faculty; F7), Medicine (F8), Arts (F9), and finally Science (F10) RAG'08 performances.
OHMYGOD!! >.<
i was so so so so touched.
everything was just so beautiful.
(even though the view was not very good. Wan Yee insisted on moving inwards. boo. -_-")
watched the hiphop (issit?) dance.
Zara and i then slept through the Chinese dance (the sleepy music) and the performance put up by Voices.
the duet from VOices was pretty good.
too bad we were simply too sleepy.
woke up and watched the cheerleading performance though.
THE SUN WAS
STILL HORRIBLE.
i am almost sure my skin was 100% cooked and fried crispy le. x_x
everyone crowded around the stage after that, eagery waiting for the RAG and FLAG'08 prize presentation.
RAG'08 comm hugged each other, wishing for the best.
we formed a circle of orange RAG'08 comm members, in the middle of a sea of blue Science and Kent Ridge people.
HAHA.
we cheered our hearts out at every interval, especially upon winning the "Best Float Design" award.
despite that being our one and only award this RAG'08.
we know we had already tried our very best.
we worked hard in this year's RAG together in unity, till the very last minute.
everyone has put in their best efforts.
but we just didn't win.
we lost FLAG'08 to Business (not surprising).
we lost the other float awards to Pharmacy (saddening).
and last but not least, we lost the Chancellor's Sheield (overall - RAG and FLAG'08) to Business, once again.
Science will be back, with even more passion and fighting spirit, next year! :)
"to all freshies, welcome to Science!! ^^" (quoted)
we went back to Science.
cleaned up costumes room.
put and stored everything away neatly in boxes to the extension room (for next year's RAG).
dumped all unwanted rubbish into the bins outside.
and we were off.
school is finally starting.. this coming Monday. >.<
i went Central to meet up with Vivien.
thought she may be busy celebrating, since Business won the Chancellor's Shield.
but she came to meet me for lunch, before going off with her mother.
she treated me to green tea McFlurry.
so sweet of her! (:
(even though i wasn't really that hungry actually)
went back to Science to meet up with Jie Sheng after that.
we left school together.
he was also disappointed that FLAG'08 didn't win.
(he is FLAG'08 comm member)
even though we won gold award, and our FLAG-ging results improved significantly.
another new school year is beginning..
.. and i am a year 2 student now.
(.. and i am positively 100% BURNT. -_-")
wow. look at how time flies.
~ Beautiful Season ~
